This course introduces the student to different types of breaker construction, important breaker data plate information and how the various types of circuit conditions (faults and overloads) should affect the protective functions of the circuit breaker. The proper operation of power circuit breakers, including racking interlocks of draw out style equipment, will be explored in detail. The course covers various causes of breaker failure, safety issues and steps for getting back on line safely.
